Richardson is raw but damn he has got some damn good measurables. He is VERY long and VERY fast and VERY quick and tough as nails for his size. Graham and company need to coach him up and put him in a place to succeed.DrDUne » Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:43 am
But the floor sounds pretty low, right? That’s what worries me. Raw projects aren’t typically the Raiders strong suit, as of recent years.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:33 am:Most athletic, meaning fastest (or ine if the fastests), CB in the draft. This is an AL pick.
I'm good with it. Addressed a need, high ceiling

Coaching can helpMaulerRaiderz wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:38 am:I'm not enthusiastic with Decamerion. He has good tackle stats because he's not very often close to the pass catcher. He barely tries to jam receivers at the line of scrimage. He either chases or gives too much cushion.

Not sure about that. Recent history tells me to trust Graham and his staff. The more I think about it the more l like this pick.DrDUne wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:43 am:But the floor sounds pretty low, right? That’s what worries me. Yeah, I don't know how he arrived that conclusion. Leading the SEC in tackles over the last two seasons isn't luck.signal wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:44 am:Not sure about that. Recent history tells me to trust Graham and his staff. The more I think about it the more l like this pick.

I’m basing it on the majority of profiles that claim his raw weakness is in coverage ability.Dark Horse wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:47 am:Yeah, I don't know how he arrived that conclusion. Leading the SEC in tackles over the last two seasons isn't luck.

Leading a conference in tackles when you're a corner might not necessarily be a good thing. Was he letting completion after completion go by him and then having to tackle? Or was he straight up all over the field making tackles? I guess it's whatever one that fits your narrativeDrDUne wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 10:54 am:I’m basing it on the majority of profiles that claim his raw weakness is in coverage ability.
I came to that conclusion because I believe coverage is an important part of playing defensive back in the NFL.

I think he could be like Sherman where he jams at the line and covers his zone and lays wood on receiver in his zone. He could probably move to safety and think about that size and speed covering kelce. With some couching he could be a good player and he's not afraid to hit and tackle. We'll be be a shutdown/pro bowl corner? Unlikely, but he can be a good player who does his job so the rest of the defense can do theirs. Micah Hyde and Quandre Diggs come to mind. Both drafted late and both are starters on defensesignal » Sat Apr 27, 2024 11:13 am
Yes, think McMahon and Graham are both smiling at the possibilities.GUYDON wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 11:11 am:You cant teach size and speed, everything else Patrick Graham will take care of.
At the very least Richardson will be a lightning fast ST'er that loves to tackle.

Had zero interceptions in his college career. Led the team in tackles last two years. Hmmmm... Sounds more like a safety than a corner, but whatever it is, it's a bit odd. He will need a lot of coachingKillerRaider30 » Sat Apr 27, 2024 11:22 am

??????????????signal wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 9:52 am:"Richardson has the length, frame and speed to compete in press coverage. He had the second-quickest 10-yard split at the combine regardless of positon -- that burst is shown in his ability to recover and break on passes. Richardson reads the quarterback and splits high-low route combinations in zone looks. He's a reliable tackler who led all SEC corners in tackles in each of the past two seasons, and he is an aggressive run-defender who flashes a strong punch and slips blocks."-- Steve Muench
Were these guys scouting the Same player??DrDUne wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 9:56 am:Welp!
“Overview
Two-year starting cornerback with outstanding physical features but below-average coverage features. He’s leggy with below-average lateral transitions and change of direction in space. Richardson doesn’t play with enough anticipation or short-area burst to make plays on the ball but does have a big make-up gear in a straight line. He’s OK as a tackler but should get better with a greater focus in that department. Richardson’s size and top-end speed will immediately garner attention, but he doesn’t appear to have the skill set to play safety and will be limited by a narrow scheme fit.“
