We all wanted a QB. I expected that we would not get one and I am glad the panic or desperation did not show itself. Nobody knows how it will play out, but on paper, the draft looks great. What are the things which will help what is arguably the weakest facet of our team (QB). Fixing the OL and getting a QB 's best friend (an all world TE that can not be shut down and who gloms everything thrown his way). Thanks to the Jets for gifting us Bowers. I never thought he would be available. Our coaches have some work to do in regards to exploiting our TE's. They also have an entire off season to SERIOUSLY work with AO (he was an after thought last season).signal » Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:21 am
Anything said about a draft the day after has to been taken with a grain of salt. We all know that it will take 2 to 3 years before we really know how good this draft was.Willmark » Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:34 am
I would have preferred a late round flyer on a QB as they are that important of a postion but overall it looks like we got better and drafted well. That alone is shocking.signal » Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:52 am
I think you only go QB late if you really like one, and from what I have gleaned from Tom's pressers, he did not like one. You don't go QB simply because you think you should go QB. You are picking players in the draft not trying to fulfill a checklist of positions.Willmark wrote Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:34 am:I would have preferred a late round flyer on a QB as they are that important of a postion but overall it looks like we got better and drafted well. Which is fine as he has more info than any of us, even including the self proclaimed experts.signal wrote Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:52 am:I think you only go QB late if you really like one, and from what I have gleaned from Tom's pressers, he did not like one.

While QB was my top priority, this team did the next best thing. Surrounded AOC/Minshew with as much help as possible. We are loaded with playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, especially if Tucker takes the leap im expecting him to take. That's legit 6 pass catching playmakers (DA, Meyers, Tucker, Brock, Mayer and Laube). JPJ is an absolute monster and a significant upgrade to our O line. The only pick I didn't agree with is Glaze but again, I understand it.Hellbound » Sun Apr 28, 2024 6:27 am
Yeah Minshew said he's excited to get back into a WCO on Maxx's podcast16 to 88 wrote Sat Apr 27, 2024 9:19 pm:This offense is going to be completely different. WCO, probably combine gap and zone scheme blocking, tons of motion, play action fakes, jet sweeps and jet motion, quick hitters and YAC, shots down field, 2TE, Bowers all over the place, backs catching passes out of the backfield. Really looking forward to it...

He was named first-team All-SEC and was the co-winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy along with Alabama center Landon Dickerson. He was a unanimous first-team All-America selection and was awarded the Outland Trophy as the nation's best interior lineman. Updated Depth Chart. Do not agree with how they have it all laid out as I think Glaze will compete at RT and will not be moved inside. I think he will be given every opportunity to prove his worth as a tackle this offseason. That said, the OL looks a hell of lot better now.DrDUne » Sun Apr 28, 2024 10:58 am
Optimistic. I love that we landed a two blue chip players. Also thought we ended well by providing depth in the DB room. If Jakorian Bennett can’t take the next step, maybe one of these guys is up to the task. Laube is another interesting gadget, IMO. Seems like one of those dudes who can just play football, and love his go-getter attitude.chucker » Sun Apr 28, 2024 11:04 am
I think the biggest flaw in how this is laid out is that they list 3 starting LBs and 2 starting CBs. On the offensive side they more accurately list 3 starting WRs, although in reality we'll likely have just 2 because I'm sure the plan is for both Mayer and Bowers to be starting "TEs".signal wrote Sun Apr 28, 2024 10:42 am:Updated Depth Chart. I expect J Bennett and T Tucker to step up a lot from last year, though obviously, they didn't, until they did, so we shall see.DrDUne wrote Sun Apr 28, 2024 10:58 am:Optimistic. Good to remember they’ll also pick up a sizeable amount of cap space on June 1 with the Jimmy G release. This team has the capital to continue to add solid free agents to fill some needs.
