You should do this more often. There is a lot of bad sentence structure and poor word usage on this site. However, this would probably keep you very busy and lead to your being bored and burned out, so never mind. Unless of course you don't mind that and think the value of proper grammar and English would be more valuable to the forum.Attyla wrote Thu May 02, 2024 3:58 pm:the use of "on" was redundant due to the word "here" as both would be an identifier of location, on being the preposition of place. After the word "forum" a comma could be inserted for proper use of the kings English but has fallen into more optional usage in todays writing. The phrasing of the first sentence is structurally awkward. I might suggest "What do we have here (comma) the fucking grammar police now? That might fix the structural issues and increase both the brevity and the impact.
Hope that helps

What??? That is not being a hypocrite at all. You’re not making sense at all. I didn’t get on anyone for the misuse of words. I disagreed & debating someone’s viewpoint with how I interpreted it. That’s completely different. Why don’t you go ahead & reread those posts. You might get it the second time. & you know damn well, generally speaking, there’s reading between the lines/context to what’s said depending on the topics.srv5490 wrote Thu May 02, 2024 6:40 pm:C'mon bro - you just ripped another member over his use of the word "addressed" and now you're butt hurt because someone pointed out your misuse of language? Don't be a hypocrite, or at least give it 24 hours so it's not glaringly obvious.
727's usage check's out:
Oxford Languages: think about and begin to deal with (an issue or problem).
Cambridge Dictionary: to give attention to or deal with a matter or problem:
So, by definition, those positions were addressed, but not necessarily fixed, in the draft.

The draft did ADDRESS them. You're acting as if those positions were not selected.MexicanHulk wrote Thu May 02, 2024 11:04 am:Well, you’re arguing a different point altogether, than what I was. I’m not dismissing the latter part of the draft nor do I think rounds 4-7 are meaningless. I like some things about it & some of the players upside potential. Although when you say if you addressed a position in the offseason, you do mean, for that upcoming season.
So while Eichenberg, because of his instincts, can become more than just a downhill LB &, Richardson, can learn to do press man &, turn hips more fluidly allowing him to stick with shiftier WR’s at the COD point, they can’t do that yet. Well, it doesn’t show up on film & therefore, you wouldn’t say they can do it yet.
All I said is, the draft didn’t address those needs. I know that some players are going to take time. I’m fine with that. I want high upside prospects & don’t mind if they take three years to blossom. & if they do blossom, that’s perfect. That just wasn’t my argument at all.

Without trying to be a grammar nazi...... I think maybe the word "address" means different things to different people. Strictly speaking it should not be taken as a synonym for "solve". We addressed needs..... whether we solved them is still in question. Drafting 2 CBs in mid to late rounds can't be taken as "job done then" like it is when you sign Wilkins to improve the interior dline but it's an effort for sure. We can't spend first and second rounders on every position.Dark Horse » Thu May 02, 2024 7:40 pm

There's one play where he sheds a future accountant to make the tackle. Good aggressive player. At best should be able to make the squad as the 6th corner and a special teams gunner.

Absolutely. I thought for sure Bowers was going to be gone within the top 8-10 easily. If not by a team above us somebody leaping up into the draft and selecting him. Dollars to donuts there were teams below us that thought no way we were taking a TE after last year... surprise! TT took a player at 13 that some teams probably had in the top 3-5 players in the entire draft!Attyla wrote Thu May 02, 2024 12:55 pm:

You shouldn't have a period after the word "offseason". A comma is what should be used there.ELCAraiderfan wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:43 pm:It's offseason. We've got to have something.

Are you really trying to say you didn't get on him about your perceived misuse of the word "addressed"?MexicanHulk wrote Thu May 02, 2024 8:02 am:No they weren’t. Oline, yes. Just cause you draft a player at that position, doesn’t mean it was addressed. If, you go into free agency & sign bottom of the barrel players at the 5 of your positions of need, do you say, “Well, we addressed that need. We’re a superbowl contender now.”? No, you don’t.
MexicanHulk wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:05 pm:I disagreed & debating someone’s viewpoint
That's insulting a poster, not productive debate.MexicanHulk wrote Thu May 02, 2024 1:10 pm:That’s all you got from it? Well then, no need to debate with you. You’re helpless. Guess we all know you just blurt stuff out without actually knowing anything about it.
And, you misinterpreted what he said. That's on you, not him. By itself, not a big issue, but you insulted him after someone else had already pointed out your error, and that's not cool.MexicanHulk wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:05 pm: I debated someone’s stance in the way I myself interpreted it..
