you could add quotes surrounding the word "uncool" for emphasis should you want to do so.SkullCrusher wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:24 pm:Oh for the love of God, don't encourage that. Nothing says uncool like grammar lessons.

So there you go. Wanna try again? Wanna reread again.srv5490 wrote Thu May 02, 2024 8:45 pm:Here is what you posted:
Are you really trying to say you didn't get on him about your perceived misuse of the word "addressed"?
Again, Uhm, yes. The “misuse” of the word doesn’t have anything to do with it. To me, it was used the way everyone uses it. & I explained why I’m debating that view point. I only point it out just in case someone wants to only mean it literally & then, we can both back track/agree or disagree from there. So again, yes. Not sure what you don’t understand.
That's insulting a poster, not productive debate.
Yeah because, I did a productive debate. & that response was due to your point, “not productive”. Thanks
And, you misinterpreted what he said. That's on you, not him. By itself, not a big issue, but you insulted him after someone else had already pointed out your error, and that's not cool.
Yes, I interpreted it that way because, that’s how it’s used by generally everyone in this context. In sports. When people are saying, they didn’t do anything to resolve the issue at multiple positions, then some say, they addressed it in the draft, that’s saying that there’s a sense of resolution there. Right? If you answer, no, then what’s the point of saying that? It’d complete nothing statement in response. Might as well just say, chickens have feathers. Cause, what’s the point.
There you go, I not only went back and reread, but I also directly quoted you. My thoughts haven't changed.

No that's not right. The word "addressed" is not used by generally everyone in the context that you interpreted it. Just look at the responses on this board between when you first responded and when you insulted the poster.MexicanHulk wrote Fri May 03, 2024 6:40 am:]Yes, I interpreted it that way because, that’s how it’s used by generally everyone in this context. RickRyb wrote Thu May 02, 2024 9:01 am:The biggest difference between the two posters is Poster #1 stated The Raiders did address those positions, while Poster #2 stated The Raiders did not fill those positions.
The positions were addressed and once preseason gets going the fans will see if the positions have been filled.
Attyla wrote Thu May 02, 2024 12:55 pm:There may be a terminology issue going on here. If you draft the position that was a team need, I think that is addressing it.

So, by definition, those positions were addressed, but not necessarily fixed, in the draft.
Dark Horse wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:34 pm:The draft did ADDRESS them. You're acting as if those positions were not selected.
To be fair, there were a couple of people who interpreted it the same way you did, but that still leaves it 5-2 with the correct interpretation, not the one you ascribe to "generally everyone". There are a million articles discussing how teams "addressed needs" in the draft that use the term correctly. But, that really wasn't the point of my post.chucker wrote Thu May 02, 2024 7:40 pm:Without trying to be a grammar nazi...... I think maybe the word "address" means different things to different people. Strictly speaking it should not be taken as a synonym for "solve". We addressed needs..... whether we solved them is still in question.
But you didn't say "fair enough, your bad", you insulted him and implied that he was too stupid to debate. Now you think it's a valid excuse that you were busy and distracted and just forgot. But, you weren't too busy to get butt hurt about another poster pointing out your language mistake. That is hypocrisy (at least the way everyone generally interprets it in this context).MexicanHulk wrote Fri May 03, 2024 6:40 am:P.S.
The poster actually responded again & said, he only meant, gave attention. I would have said, ok. Fair enough. My bad, which I have done before but, I got distracted by responding to other people. Plus being extremely busy at work. So it was easy to forget that response to him.

Well obviously you’re going to keep leaving out key points in my posts cause you can’t rebut them. You also throw things out of context/out of chronological order to straw man your stance.srv5490 wrote Fri May 03, 2024 6:29 pm:Honestly, this just isn't that interesting, but since you invited me to respond I will one last time.

On a side note, Raiderroo has created several threads asking how many will stick at certain positional groups. It is a great way to focus the discussion on each positional group. That said, I have not posted much on these threads because given the question I realized that I am a tad in the dark.Sold My Soul » Tue May 07, 2024 9:16 pm
