He is not the first one to take the number since Kenny. Even DHB wore it for a bit. I have always liked the notion that we do not retire numbers. Implication to me is the number is a number. We honor our past great players as people, not a number. Not to say we don't all know the numbers they wore, and not to say we don't buy jersey's with their numbers. We do and we do. But the number is such a small part of who they were. Rusty Hilger, I am sure, was well aware of who's number he wore. I am sure he was just thrilled to play for the team and getting that number was just part of the process. Of course he was able to keep his college number in that case.RunOverByHubbard wrote Sat May 04, 2024 2:44 pm:I’m glad he is out of #4 but #12 is sacred and he better be fucking good if he made that choice.

Yes.Attyla wrote Sat May 04, 2024 1:19 pm:I like the fact that they have not named a presumptive starter yet. I hope they don't well into camp or even preseason. Make it a true competition

absolutely, a number of guys got numbers who never warranted wearing the uniform. If you get a number today, let it be because you were worthy. But if you get a number, come Sunday, play like hell.

I prefer to call him “OC12”now. I called him AO4 previously.RI RAIDER wrote Mon Apr 29, 2024 11:45 am:I got hives and the runs when you called him AOC.

You are right he is not a statue but still he got sacked 34 times in 17 games, AOC numbers are 24 in 11 games. He is a tad higher per game but not by much. Both have identical completion percentage but AOC threw more TDs/game than Gardner Minshew. His best days were with Jacksonville - not sure why did they let him go. Fans like his game but GMs don't want to make the effort to hire him. I wonder why?crowbar wrote Sat May 04, 2024 12:23 pm:Gardner is not a statue so there's that.

has he been unemployed since he came into the league?silver_ghost wrote Sun May 05, 2024 2:18 am:You are right he is not a statue but still he got sacked 34 times in 17 games, AOC numbers are 24 in 11 games. I get it but Jocoby Ford, Martavus Bryant and Josh McCown have all worn that number since thenRunOverByHubbard wrote Sat May 04, 2024 2:44 pm:I’m glad he is out of #4 but #12 is sacred and he better be fucking good if he made that choice.

Minshew is better in the pocket and at extending plays, AO has a better long ball IMO. Definitely the most interesting and important competition in camp. I at least feel good knowing if one goes down, we've got somebody competent to step in.KillerRaider30 » Sun May 05, 2024 6:21 am
what if Aidan had 6 years experience like Minshew? I want him to have his second year. He knows about needing to take off more. He spoke about it a bunch of times at pressers and I want him to have his chance to incorporate/prove it.Amish Cabal wrote Sun May 05, 2024 6:06 am:Minshew is better in the pocket and at extending plays, AO has a better long ball IMO. I simply hope that both come into camp and surprise the shit out of all of us by taking their games to another level and make the decision a most difficult one for the coaches.KillerRaider30 » Sun May 05, 2024 6:33 am

If that happens, we know that the Raiders will get much improved play at the QB position no matter who starts and that the Raiders are not an injury away of kissing their season away.

In an ideal world, both excel and if the decision is Minshew, I definitely don't have any problem with the swagger he brings to the table and he does definitely bring that to the table.KillerRaider30 wrote Sun May 05, 2024 6:33 am:Me too.
I want OC12 to be that guy but I think Minshew and his personality will spark the offense.
We need fire

One thing that is never really factored into the comparison between the two QBs is the fact that one played on a team that had the 10th best running attack (yards per carry) in the league while the other played for a team that had the 28th best running attack. Now if you are going to argue that maybe Minshew made the Colts a better running team by running it, you would be wrong. He averaged 2.9 yards a carry for 100 yards in 2023…those numbers actually hurt the Colts stats; they do not help it.silver_ghost » Sun May 05, 2024 8:51 am
QB's such as him are called journeymen. If GMs found his skill to be valuable why do they let him go within 2 years or a year of service.Attyla wrote Sun May 05, 2024 3:58 am:has he been unemployed since he came into the league?
