I didn't see this posted anywhere and thinking it may have got lost in the shuffle but Arthur Whittington passed away. I met him a couple of times where I worked and had some quick conversations with him about him and the Raiders. Was a really nice guy and was always wearing his Super Bowl ring. Rest in peace Art. Prayers go out...16 to 88 » Thu May 02, 2024 8:14 pm

I have his atograph but can't find it at this moment. I remember him telling me that the hardest hit he ever took was from Randy Gardishar. He also told me while we were still in Oakland after Al passed and before Las Vegas was even a thought of that Mark really wanted to move to L.A. Of course, the NFL made sure we didn't land there. Can't have the Raiders in L.A. with a bigger fan base than the Rams now can we? Pathetic.haji81872 wrote Thu May 02, 2024 6:18 am:Two of my favorite football cards was of him. 1980 tops he just looks like a hard working man who loves his job. Exhausted yet a small smile crawling on his face. 1981 Topps he is sucking on the oxygen.

Wasn't a Raider for particularly long (4 years), but he was solid contributor and helped us get our third SB. I remember him as being a change of pace guy at RB and a good kick returner. RIP.RunOverByHubbard » Thu May 02, 2024 10:03 pm
For some reason that escapes me, the Raiders played a game in UC Berkeley's Memorial Stadium. In fact, it must have been a preseason game and they had a conflict with the A's? Anyway we came up from Santa Cruz and got good seats. Whittington returned a kickoff a long ways -- maybe all the way -- I cannot remember. Heck it was over 40 years ago. But, we were there and he did something really good. That's my only memory of him. RIP in the Silver and Black.BigJerk » Sat May 04, 2024 5:32 pm
I didn't have any solid memory of him, so I had to search for a highlight reel.Xramfan » Sat May 04, 2024 10:33 pm
