Damn, I thought my prediction of the offense jumping up all the way to #15 was a tad of a stretch, hope you are right...because if so, the Raiders will win a lot of games in 2024.Curay7680 wrote Sat May 04, 2024 10:01 am:Defense #5
Offense# 10

No probs, if there is a time of year for fans to be optimistic about their team, it is now. Right after the draft, is probably that time of the year that fans are the most optimistic about their teams' chances the following year.Curay7680 wrote Sat May 04, 2024 10:08 am:Ok more realistically, D #5 O #15 even after thinking about it I realized that was ridiculous for the offense.

This offense easily has the weapons to be top 10. Now it boils down to the OC and qb. From top to bottom I would put this as one of the most talented offenses in the league outside of those 2 spotssignal » Sun May 05, 2024 6:40 am
Yes, this offense has some tremendous weapons. That said, the engine of any offense is the OL. Is this OL ready to own the line of scrimmage?Raidernation1979 wrote Sun May 05, 2024 6:10 am:This offense easily has the weapons to be top 10. Now it boils down to the OC and qb. I like it.signal wrote Fri May 03, 2024 5:33 am:I think the most important stat is points scored since that is the stat that determines games. As Raiders fans we should all know by now that yardage can be a very misleading stat.
In 2023:
Raider Offense: 23rd (Points scored)
Raider Defense: 9th (Points allowed)
My guess in 2024:
Raiders Offense: 15th (Points scored)
Raiders Defense: 5th (Points allowed)
With a full offseason with AP at the helm, this team enters the 2024 season in a much better place than they did entering last season. And given the changes in the coaching staff, do think it is the offense that will benefit most and make the biggest jump up the rankings. That said, it is not improbable since they have the most room for improvement.
If both rather optimistic predictions come true, the Raiders will be a playoff team in 2024.

The 10 wins is a much more reliable stat than our point differential.signal wrote Sat May 04, 2024 6:36 am:Sorry but you can use this or that game to try and make the stats appear not reliable, but those stats do count and every team has this game or that game that appear outliers. The stats are the stats and the 2021 team was below average in scoring and points allowed. And frankly, they looked exactly to me as the stats suggested...a below average team that simply limped into the playoffs.
That team's success would not be sustainable and we saw it come true the very next year with very much the same personal. Many of us knew it would happen...and it did happen. We were calling for a reset right after the 2021 season because the Raiders were in a perfect position to do it and get a good haul in draft capital doing it. But the new regime waited a year too long and well, we know the rest of the story....they made moves but received next too nothing in draft capital.
We can go back and pretend that all of the stats were meaningless in 2021 and blame the HC the following year or we could simply see the reality of the situation.
P.S. The 2024 Raiders roster looks much better than 2021 Raiders roster. So, there is that.

Yes, Bradley probably would have done better but they still would not have been a playoff team. And that was my point.Be_Easy_25 wrote Mon May 06, 2024 3:23 am:The 10 wins is a much more reliable stat than our point differential.
The wins against playoff teams that year are a more reliable stat than the lopsided losses to KC.
What’s the proof?
The L to the Bengals on the road, with Carr throwing an INT in to their end zone with a chance to tie the game.
You can’t say the stats are the stats for your opinion but imply that they aren’t for my opinion.
Worst coach in history took that same roster to 6 wins. There’s a fairly decent argument that simply running it back and not introducing a turd like McDaniels and keeping Gus Bradley would have yielded much better results than 6-11.

We should be very thankful that Brandon Staley was an idiot. The chargers should have beat the brakes off the Raiders in that final game. His stupid decisions kept the Raiders in and actually helped us win.Be_Easy_25 wrote Mon May 06, 2024 3:23 am:The 10 wins is a much more reliable stat than our point differential.

I've become convinced that the majority of games in the NFL come down to who screws up the least. You need more than that to win in the postseason, but it's a good starting point. Staley had some serious fuck ups in that game and we didn't. That was the difference.Raidernation1979 wrote Mon May 06, 2024 6:17 am:We should be very thankful that Brandon Staley was an idiot. Looking for the D to be in the top 1/2 and offense around that mid-point. For being deep in the bottom 1/2 for so long for our D, I want to see consistency vs 1 year anomalies which is common for low-rated teams, they have a year and then go back to where they usually are, so the D in the top 1/2 is still a good step forward for me, building something. I think 16'ish for the O would be a very promising position to then grow from.Be_Easy_25 » Mon May 06, 2024 5:50 pm
