Most people, including myself, will look at things like this and assume that most of those things can be improved. But damn, so many of those observations still hold true.Oaktown Superman wrote Tue Nov 23, 2021 7:51 am:Someone posted this on another forum, and I’m seeing some of the same issues seven years(eighth season) later…
B/R Bleacher report
Derek Carr NFL Draft 2014: Highlights, Scouting Report for Oakland Raiders QB
Fresno State (HT: 6’2⅜", WT: 214 lbs)
Oakland Raiders
Second Round: 36th Pick
NFL Comparison: Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
Negatives
•Footwork needs improvement; he often retreats from pressure and throws off his back foot. Needs to step into his throws more consistently.
•Poor decision-making under duress.
•Average pocket presence with wavering poise and unrefined pocket movement.
•Stares down his intended target. He needs to improve eye discipline.
•Too often appears to be flustered by pressure. Can be quick to flee the pocket.
•Inconsistent mechanics, has a tendency to lock his lower half and throw with his arm alone.
•Struggles when his receivers’ routes are disrupted.
•Often late to recognize the blitz.
•Operated almost exclusively out of shotgun with four or five receiver sets.
•Not an anticipatory thrower.
•Will not hurt defenses on the ground. He has enough mobility to get by but is not much of a running threat.
•Hangs his receivers out to dry at times.
•Does not appear to see the field very well, throwing into double-teams occasionally.
•Struggled with top competition.
•College career ended on a lousy note as he was erratic vs. USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.

It's Tuesday, that one huge Carr supporter will likely find some absurd internet meme of stats to try and prove how good Carr is. I think the most recent one had Carr leading the league with 27 "big time throws." HahahahaOaktown Superman » Tue Nov 23, 2021 8:21 am

Musgrave kept his reads to 1 or 2 max and called plays accordingly which led to Carr’s success. We all bitched about it and Musgraves conservative approach at times and then Downing came in and opened it up, and it was a disaster.raiders1988xyz wrote Tue Nov 23, 2021 8:33 am:https://twitter.com/mike_zander77/statu ... 60993?s=21

Answer: 'Minor panic attacks' probably doesn't quite describe the sense you get around here that Allen has possibly peaked and is perhaps 'too slow to adjust' to what defenses have found works against him, if they have the horses to bring it. What (i think) i am seeing with defenses playing against the Bills at this time is that if they brink pressure, Allen will either run with it and risk injury, or make bad decisions throwing the ball. As i said, many of what we have been seeing with his passes is along the lines of 'who the fuk was that intended for.') We will have to see how that plays out, but he has looked beyond bad in more that a few games this year. . ...and this is with Bruce Dabol his entire career, and with a front office with an actual consistent plan, and who have always tried to surround him with what he needed to succeed. .NoThanksSir wrote Mon Nov 22, 2021 11:17 am:Question. Isn't it interesting how one fan base is having minor panic attacks over Josh Allen's 4 yr resume while the Raiders have been relatively patient with Carr for twice that time? Allen has already eclipsed Carr in every way. The fact that Buffalo fans are anxious about Allen's up and down play only cements that it's time to move on from Derek.

This alone is why they really need to try MM this week. Carr needs to sit. He is spent, and i would not expect anything more than more of teh same with him. There really is no time to waste. Not expecting much if they have the courage to do this, but you need a spark NOW, and unfortunately, MM is our only other 'viable' option.raiders93 wrote Mon Nov 22, 2021 7:18 pm:Definitely getting strong “hopeless” vibes lately.
