It's ok to be young but get over the anger stuff and thinking you're opinion is automatically right. Open your mind to other possibilities.AngryRaidersFan wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:18 pm:I apologize. He's not the greatest raider of all time but he could of been/ could be with a little more help. He's definitely the best raider since the 90s with Charles Woodson being the only one who could be debatable.
I like reading all your guys opinions. I'm just thinking about how this division has gone over the past decade now and I am just under the mind set that we need a drastic change.
I am young but I respect the great raiders of the 70s and 80s. I just think they were given a little more help then Maxx has gotten and how many players have gotten our logo literally tattooed on them???
He's already top 5 in my book easily and he's top 1 over the past 30 years

I'm still a little unsure how people don't think Williams is as good a lock at QB as it gets pre-draft. But if you say you want a good QB. Well we might have two good QB's already, do we need a 3rd? What we want and really need is a great QB. How some don't see that as a large part of the championship equation/perennial playoff contestant is a little strange to me. The NFL basically screams that at us. We want another Carr? No we want more.Dr Death wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 10:00 am:I honestly wouldn't mind if we were to take Rattler. I'm not sold on any of the top 3 being "the guy". I think there is more of a chance they will be good QB's than being the next latest/greatest. The NFL has a way of weeding out hyped up players. Rattler seems like the kind of guy that could/might just be a very good NFL QB. Kinda like a certain 6th round pick we all learned to hate for years.
It would be cool if he could be the man, a little bit of a Snake 2.0.Dr Death wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 2:13 pm:I get the feeling this dude is going to be a lot of fun.... and good for the team.

I hear ya. The thing is.... our track record sucks at drafting QB's. in the first round... Marinovich - Russell. If we were drafting in one of those three slots, I'd be all about taking one of them. I just don't see any of the teams in those positions giving up the spot for anything other than a mega haul of picks... present and future. It just isn't worth it/in the cards this time around, IMO.SkullCrusher wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 3:57 pm:I'm still a little unsure how people don't think Williams is as good a lock at QB as it gets pre-draft. The man who drafted Eldridge Dickey, Marc Wilson, Todd Marinovich, and JaMarcus Russell in the first round has been dead for 12 1/2 years and is likely to remain dead for the foreseeable future. Those picks have nothing to do with who Tom Telesco (our current GM) is going to draft or what his chances of success are.Dr Death wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:37 pm:I hear ya. That's not at all what "we're" doing and it's not about a "smaller" sample size. Let's not be disingenuous to win a debate. First off, it's not a larger sample size when you are going further back in time. We know that conditions are dissimilar at different points in time. I didn't say it would look different if you took a 5 year sample from '87 to '92, I said the LAST five years which is more relevant to the present You know, since the league has become a passing league. The last five years where it's harder to find bookend OTs because of the PREMIUM on pass rush and the geater emphasis on do it all WRs. This isn't your daddy's NFL. WR is a PREMIUM position. The Carr fans should back me up on that after all their incessant whining about not having WRs.The Condor wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:24 am: Yup, we can indeed make the sample size smaller and smaller, to support a particular theorem.
In Poker terminology that's called being "results oriented". Aka using statistical anomalies/outcome to justify a particular decision.
But that doesn't negate the evidence of history. Aka a large sample size.

I'm not a big Nix fan, and I would probably prefer drafting Rattler later as well, but it's worth pointing out what Nix does have going for him.rich72 wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 12:44 pm: Getting Nix would be a real bummer. I would say just wait till later and grab Rattler if we had to grab a QB later on.

Whoa, did the Maye fans see this? I tried to tell them he needs some serious work.Ordos wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:52 pm:I'm not a big Nix fan, and I would probably prefer drafting Rattler later as well, but it's worth pointing out what Nix does have going for him.
(Of note, I have not confirmed the data myself, so I'm relying on other sources here)

The Raiders draft history is reset every time a new GM/HC is at the helm. They have nothing to do with past successes or failures. It's still hard to get the guy though, but you need to try.Ordos » Fri Apr 19, 2024 7:03 pm
Yeah, don't go reading too much into that, as I wouldn't spend anything above a 3 for him, making sure to use 1 and 2 elsewhere. But I'm not wild about Nix at 1, and I'm talking about using a development pick here.Dark Horse wrote Fri Apr 19, 2024 6:21 pm:Whoa, did the Maye fans here this? I am not a huge fan of Nix, but come on. Rattler? 6'1/2", 4.95 40 running Rattler? Nah, bra.
