That’s the risk that comes with the pick and I suppose if you’re higher on AOC you’d rather avoid that risk. I’m pretty low on AOC myself and am probably also comparatively very high on penix. I don’t know, everything with AOC just looked kind of lethargic to me.16 to 88 wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:40 pm:Who's to say which ever quarterback you draft will be better? It's only a feeling but I get the feeling O'Connell is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

Precisely, I just have been pointing this out for quite sometime now that fans automatically believe pick "X" is the golden ticket. They may or may not be the case. When it comes to O'Connell, I find it noteworthy that he walked onto a college like Purdue and wrestled the job away from everyone. And when forced into action in an absolutely horrible situation I thought he did a remarkable job considering. One thing is for sure whomever we draft better be prepared to outwork him.raiders93 wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:57 pm:That’s the risk that comes with the pick

Point of Interest: of the 5 QBs taken in the 2021 draft, Trevor Lawrence is the only one still with his original team.Attyla » Tue Apr 23, 2024 3:20 am

When I clicked on that I thought something was up. Yeop. Every team is talking to every team about potential trades this time of year. When did the vikings make that trade to get another 1st? A month or so ago?! lol

But he looked like shit with Auburn, so it's looks like he benefitted from being "boxed in" by Oregon.raiders93 wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:38 pm:The thing I think keeps getting overlooked with Nix is that his skill set is potentially a lot more expansive than the offence he played in. He’s kind of getting boxed into this “quick rhythm, west coast, dink and dunk guy”. That was the offence he played in…. But he’s got some real juice as runner/scrambler.

Minshew was on Maxx's podcast recently and he did say he was excited to get back into a west coast offense so maybe Nix would be more of a fit for this team 5han than what we think?Attyla wrote Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:42 pm:Nix is not a bad QB, but he is a system guy. He will be a short field QB who works more like a Montana in that he chips the field and will need receivers who are YAC guys.

Not only at auburn. But even in the pre draft stuff. He's so inconsistent. And when asked anything all the can say is "completion percentage". That's all well and good. But you aren't going to throw 30 screens a game in the NFL.Dark Horse wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 4:30 am:But he looked like shit with Auburn, so it's looks like he benefitted from being "boxed in" by Oregon.

But maybe if 6 are taken in the first round this year, there will be two on their original team in 4 years.... or something.
Dark Horse » Tue Apr 23, 2024 5:53 am
Exactly. I hope all the people who liked the original post see this. The obvious is more likely. Oregon's offense wasn't holding him back.vtraider wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 5:09 am:Not only at auburn. With the Jets trading Wilson and Drew Lock the backup, are the Jets in the QB market for the future since Rodgers is getting old and brittle? We all expect the Jets to grab either a weapon for Rodgers or oline to protect him, but could they also go QB?chucker » Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:14 am
I think the Jets are a team that will not be focused on the future QB because they have to maximize their immediate future or they just make the Rodgers deal a failure, which can cost a GM his job.Rabid Raider wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:07 am:With the Jets trading Wilson and Drew Lock the backup, are the Jets in the QB market for the future since Rodgers is getting old and brittle? It going to be an interesting first round.!

To max out the Jets chances, they need the draft to hit on players who will play now to give them immediate results. They cannot afford to draft a QB and certainly not one on day one or two. Get a vet to back up whackadoodle and get some players to help him or help the defense.raiders93 » Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:55 am
It would be hilarious if the Jets did the exact same thing that started his issues with the Packers…. Draft his successor while he’s still on the team.BoKnows81 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:51 am::blowkiss: Completely disagree. The Jets have a win now team. That defense is stacked, they have 2 elite weapons on offense and I dont think their O line is as bad as it appeared since Vera-Tucker was hurt. I think they are in a perfect position to draft a young QB early to sit behind Rodgers.
chucker » Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:02 am
If he's on the board when the Jets pick, Bowers seems like the obvious choice. A weapon for this year and future years instead of a QB who's going to sit. They have to at least try to capitalize on the Rodgers window.raiders93 wrote Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:55 am:It would be hilarious if the Jets did the exact same thing that started his issues with the Packers….
